Washer Dryer Combo: Maintenance Schedule
You should be changing the hoses on the washer and dryer every 5 years, but I like to do them every 3 years. they sometimes have new colors and textures and Delroy and Winston are very fashion conscious.
Yes, my washer and dryer are a gay, interracial couple, and proud of it. Here’s the thing though, Winston used to get all of the attention, because, since they’re eating clean, I make all of the washing powder myself. In fact, I just figured out last week how to make the dryer sheets for Delroy, and he was overjoyed. I feel like he felt a bit deflated when I made Winston liquid detergent. He was beyond jealous, and Winston got a cold. His nose was running all the time, and it was ridiculous.
Then I realized that it was 2019, and according to my schedule, it was time to change the hook up hoses anyway (no pun intended).
If you are in the market for a new set, pay close attention to the way your area is set up: that will determine the way the doors should open for maximum efficiency.
I’m not the normal mom (really?) I love doing laundry, dishes and emptying the garbage. I wash at least a load a day, and my machines are programmable, so I love to wash a load at like 1:30am and pop on the dryer when I go for a walk at 4:00. That way, I can sit and fold while watching Law and Order by 5:30am and the breakfast is in the oven too. God, I love LG. The only thing is that the washer door is not reversible, having lived with opposing doors, my mom was a lefty, so… long story, but I JUST figured that the dryer was reversible and changed the door in less than 7 minutes with just a phillips screwdriver, then was stuck at the washer portion of my big redo. Sucks yeah, but all is not lost.
I’m learning to deal with increased efficiency, and Winston and Delroy couldn’t be happier. They can now have conversations long into the night without talking over each other. Progress. Everyone deserves to be happy.
Although the recommended time for changing the hoses are 5 years, I change my hook ups every 3 years, years that end with 3, 6, 9… easier for me to remember. So this year, I’m changing all the toilet valves, pvc plumbing, in all 4 bathrooms.
Last year was the outlets, if you really want to know. Changed from the ovally looking ones to the supposedly more modern squared ones. Next year will be all of the wax rings for the toilets. I’m so excited, because I feel like by now they should have organic coconut wax rings for the toilets <3
